El Negro Mas Chulo: African by legacy, Mexican by birth traces the community of Afro Mexicans living on the Pacific and Gulf Coasts of Mexico. Photographer Ayana Jackson and writer Marco Villalobos trace the rich history of Africa in Mexico. Combining recent photographic portraiture and written accounts of a historic colonial struggle for liberation, El Negro Mas Chulo presents a fresh visual and literary perspective on the struggle for liberty and representation in the Americas. 408 W. 58th St. @ 9th Ave. 6PM.
